Boy Scouts of America is one of the oldest institutions for young men and boys in the United States. It is analogous to a franchise institution, in a way. Boy Scouts of America, which is also known as BSA of America and BSA National, is one of the means by which young men can find their vocation in modern society.
There is also the counterpart, Girl Scouts of America. There are unique institutions which have grown up around Boy Scouts of America. For example, there is a boy scouts store and boy scouts blog available for those in need of uniforms or information.
Boy scouts of America may not have as many members as it once had. The reason is because people are more committed to urban or suburban living and there is no longer the communal capital necessary to allow kids to work together as thoroughly as the boy scouts require.
Nonetheless, Boy Scouts of America has been a dynamic force for good in American life, from collecting rubber during World War II to building shelters for the homeless in the 21st century. Kids may not any longer be fully committed to becoming Eagle scouts, as they once were, but it is still an important institution for American life.
